OUR STORY

Connie Brisbane’s journey in horsemanship began at an early age under the guidance of her mother, a respected instructor in Canada. From there, she refined her craft as a working pupil under a member of the Canadian Olympic team, an experience that instilled a deep respect for precision, discipline, and the art of true horsemanship.

In 1974, Connie traveled to England, earning her certification through the British Horse Society while gaining invaluable international experience in riding and showing.

Her path eventually led her to the United States, where in 1987 she accepted a position at a show barn in Charlottesville, Virginia. After years of dedication to teaching and training, she established Pine Ridge Stables in 2000.

Today, Connie resides in Bedford County, Virginia with her husband, her horses, and her beloved pup, Zipper, continuing a lifelong mission rooted in compassion, patience, and purpose.

“My greatest joy is watching a rider have a lightbulb moment and seeing a neglected horse rediscover its spark.”

OUR MISSION

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to:

  • Rescuing and rehabilitating horses who have faced neglect, abuse, or abandonment

  • Providing a safe, lifelong sanctuary for horses in need

  • Educating riders through compassionate, foundation-based horsemanship

  • Creating meaningful partnerships between horse and human

At Pine Ridge, we honor the horse—and the incredible lessons they teach us every day.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

At Pine Ridge, our lesson horses are not just schoolmasters. They are survivors.

When you ride here, you are part of something bigger. Every lesson directly supports the care, rehabilitation, and future of rescue horses.

We don’t just teach riding.
We teach awareness.
We teach empathy.
We teach partnership.
